Welcome to the South Austin Steel website. We are a track and field, cross country, road racing and off-season conditioning program. We are currently in our 18th year of developing champions and conditioning non-track athletes. We are a small family oriented club that focuses on developing athletes physically and mentally. The club was started to give kids in Austin other options for training and competing. Our club participates in USATF, AAU, Road Races and TAAF meets

Our training is based on developing the Biomotor skills

Biomotor Abilities: The 5 Components of Fitness
  • Strength: the ability to produce force (lifting heavy weights)
  • Speed: the ability to move very rapidly (sprinting)
  • Endurance: the ability to resist fatigue (running a marathon)
  • Flexibility: The ability to attain large ranges of motion at the joints (doing a split)
